Train Your Brain To Let Go Of Habits

Here are some ways to retrain your brain:

Identify the habit.

Identifying the habit you would like to change is the first step. If your motivation and the intention to change is high, your brain will be forced to create new neural connections, which will lead to a new positive habit.

Be aware of the consequences of that habit

How do you feel, what are your thoughts, and where does this habit lead you in your life? Awareness is the key.

Shift your focus.

This is very important. To create a new neural pathway, you take the focus off the old habit and replace it with a new one you enjoy. Joy is the key word here.

Visualize.

To build new, strong, long-lasting neural connections and new positive habits, you need to use your imagination. Visualize yourself as that person without that negative habit, successful, beautiful, self-confident, healthy, and energized—whatever you want to be! By repeating the visualization, you will reinforce the new neural connections.

Break the pattern.

When an old habit or an old thought comes up into your mind, be mindful and interrupt the process. You have created those pathways, so you can break them as well.

Have a plan.

It’s easier to create new pathways when you have a step by step action plan. For example, you would like to lose your negative thought habit; you need to know how to replace them. Shifting your focus onto something pleasurable for you or taking a walk on the beach may calm you down. Affirmations work very well in these situations.

Meditate

Don’t be afraid of meditation. It may sound holistic, but it is a proven method to create new neural connections in your brain. It calms your brain, body, and mind down. In addition, meditation helps you get in contact with your subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is able to process 40 bits/second and your subconscious mind processes 40 million bits/second! Just think about that. By meditating, you open up access to your subconscious mind and this gives you the feeling of access to your higher self. Your intuition and other answers to your questions can be found while meditating.

Everything is possible.

Remember, you have once maybe unconsciously created those pathways. This means that it is possible to create new ones and replace the old ones. As long as you stay focused on your goal, keeping that motivation high and keeping your intentions strong, nothing will be impossible for your mind!

Keep in mind, recent study has shown, a new strong and rooted habit is formed only after 66 days of practice!

The Effect Of Positive Emotions On Our Health

“The best way to overcome undesirable or negative thoughts and feelings is to cultivate the positive ones.” ~ William Atkinson

Its important we recognize our thoughts and emotions and be aware of their effect not only on our health but also our relationships and our surroundings. Positive emotions makes you feel happy and joyful. Everything around you seems beautiful, you enjoy the moment and things seem to fall into place.

Barbara Fredrickson, one of the long-time researchers and author on positive emotions, has shown how cultivating positivity can transform us at a cellular level and actually shape who we are.

Fredrickson’s theory of positive emotions, ‘Broaden-and-build’ suggests that positive emotions lead to novel, expansive behavior, and these actions, over time, lead to lasting emotional resilience, flourishing and meaningful social relationships.

Positive emotions or behaviour – like playfulness, gratitude, awe, love, interest, serenity, and feeling of interconnectedness to others – broadens our perspective, opens our mind and heart as we feel completely in tune with our environment. Like the flowers that open up when the sun rises, the same way positive emotions bring light and joy back in our lives.

According to Fredrickson, “Negative emotions are necessary for us to flourish, and positive emotions are by nature subtle and fleeting; the secret is not to deny their transience but to find ways to increase their quantity. Rather than trying to eliminate negativity, she recommends we balance negative feelings with positive ones.”

Shakespeare said, “Frame your mind to mirth and merriment, which bars a thousand harms and lengthens life.”

Lets see the physical and emotional benefits of positive emotions:

  • Faster recovery from cardiovascular stress

  • Positive emotions have also been shown to benefit individuals with cardiovascular disease.

  • Lower blood pressure and risk for cardiovascular disease

  • Better sleep, fewer colds, headaches, aches and pain, and a greater sense of overall happiness

  • Expands our perception of what lies in our peripheral vision

  • Research suggests that even more abstract positive emotions like hope and curiosity offer protective benefits from diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes.

  • Studies show that positive emotions help a person to overcome negative emotions faster and be more resilient and be able to cope with a difficult situation.

  • People are more playful when happy, so that leads better physical fitness, regular exercise or increased flexibility. (so its important to engage in an activity that makes you happy)

  • People who experience warmer, more upbeat emotions may have better physical health because they make more social connections

  • When you delve in that happy space, more possibilities and new ideas emerge and our creativity flows. Happiness and joy transform us, although you might not stay in that state all the time. There will be days when you feel down and out, but if we observe our emotions and divert our mind and think of the happy moments, you will find the negative emotion fading away.

Don’t forget negative, repressed emotions can have detrimental effect on our body, mind and spirit. It takes control over you and makes you feel down, gloomy, unhealthy and its a unpleasant state to be in.

Nothing like a good humour to drive the negativity away, always works for me. So increase your daily diet of positivity or engage in activities that bring about happy feelings either meditation, exercise, yoga, laughter clubs, walk, painting, and so on. Love your life and yourself.

Positive feelings also help us live in the present moment and believe in oneness and interconnectedness with everything around us. To sum it up, Marcus Aurelius said “Remember this, that very little is needed to make a happy life.

Scientific Studies That Prove Consciousness Can Alter Our Physical Material World

Nikola Tesla said it best, “the day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence. To understand the true nature of the universe, one must think it terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Swami Vivekananda was Tesla’s mentor, an Indian Hindu monk and chief disciple of the 19th century saint Ramakrishna.

Science works best when in harmony with nature. If we put these two together, we can discover great technologies that can only come about when the consciousness of the planet is ready to embrace them, like free energy.

I want to make it clear that my intention of presenting this information is to demonstrate that thoughts, intentions, prayer and other units of consciousness can directly influence our physical material world. Consciousness can be a big factor in creating change on the planet. Sending thoughts of love, healing intent, prayer, good intention, and more can have a powerful influence on what you are directing those feelings towards. Fukushima for example, if a mass amount of people send their thoughts and good intention to our waters, we can help mitigate the situation. These concepts can be used on a mass scale as one human race with one intent in their hearts, for multiple problems, as well as individual situations in our own lives. When our consciousness starts to merge into one as a collective, and we all start to see through the same eyes, we will begin to transform the world around us. I believe we are currently in this process.

For quite some time now, physicists have been exploring the relationship between  human consciousness and its relationship to the structure of matter. Previously it was believed that a Newtonian material universe was the foundation of our physical material reality. This all changed when scientists began to recognize that everything in the universe is made out of energy. Quantum physicists discovered that physical atoms are made up of vorticies of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating. Matter, at it’s tiniest observable level, is energy, and human consciousness is connected to it, human consciousness can influence it’s behavior and even re-structure it.

“Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real” – Niels Bohr

“The hypothesis of modern science starts from matter as the basic reality, considering space to be an extension of the void. The phenomenon of creation of stable cosmic matter, therefore, goes beyond the scope of present science. The theory also neither pinpoints the source of cosmic energy that resides in the structure of matter, nor can it explain the cause of material properties that are experienced with the behavior of matter.  These are, in brief, the limitations of modern scientific theories at the most basic level of the physical phenomena of nature. When a scientific theory cannot cope with the question of the very origin of the universal matter and energy, how could it ever grasp and explain the phenomenon of consciousness which is evident in living beings?” – Paramahamsa Tewari (0)

The revelation that the universe is not an assembly of physical parts, but instead comes from an entanglement of immaterial energy waves stems from the work of Albert Einstein, Max Planck and Werner Heisenberg, amongst others.

1. The Quantum Double Slit Experiment

The quantum double slit experiment is a great example of how consciousness and our physical material world are intertwined. One potential revelation of this experience is that “the observer creates the reality.” A paper published in the peer-reviewed journal Physics Essays explains how this experiment has been used multiple times to explore the role of consciousness in shaping the nature of physical reality. (2)

In this experiment, a double-slit optical system was used to test the possible role of consciousness  in the collapse of the quantum wave-function. The ratio of the interference pattern’s double slit spectral power to its single slit spectral power was predicted to decrease when attention was focused toward the double slit as compared to away from it. The study found that factors associated with consciousness significantly correlated in predicted ways with perturbations in the double slit interference pattern.(2) For visual demonstration of this experiment, click here.

“Observation not only disturbs what has to be measured, they produce it. We compel the electron to assume a definite position. We ourselves produce the results of the measurement.” (2)

“A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter. Get over it, and accept the inarguable conclusion. The universe is immaterial-mental and spiritual.” (R.C. Henry, “The Mental Universe” ; Nature 436:29,2005) (1)
